Fran Owens

I live in Keystone Heights Florida and I was born and raised in Fairfield Alabama. I came to Jacksonville Florida in 1955. I met a real nice guy from Jacksonville at the University of Alabama and married him. I moved from Jacksonville to Atlantic Beach and then to Keystone Heights in 1981.

I am a retired teacher. I taught elementary school in Duval and Clay counties, more specifically at S. Bryan Jennings elementary school in Orange Park, grades 2, 3 and kindergarten..  I now volunteer at St Vincent's Hospital in Clay County, on a weekly basis, in the Imaging Dept. at the hospital. My duties consist of showing people where to go and I give them gowns and Instructions, if they have to change clothes.  I am very active in the Women's Ministry at Fresh Start Fellowship where we make pillows, as seen on the photo below.  We also serve our membership in many ways by furnishing food, transportation, and visitation when needed..

I love spending time with my family. I have 2 children, 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.  As a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, my life is fulfilled with the whole family.  I So much joy comes from being with my family. I went on vacation with my daughter and son-in-law this past July. Had a great time camping in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.  We enjoyed the weather, being outdoors and seeing wildlife like a bear, deer and fish. And of course we enjoyed eating in some nice restaurants.  It was a relaxing time.

I really enjoy my time at Genesis. It helps me to stay in shape so I can keep up with my family and do my volunteer work that is so rewarding. The staff and other members make it a very pleasant place to be.

My favorite quote is "Always remember to Be nice, say nice things."
